RedHeads' ‘Rusty Roof’ range is for those small parcels of fruit that we sniff out that show great potential then lead to absolute gems in the winery. The range is named after a quirky old shed with a rusty roof and auburn tiles - a true RedHead - which takes residence on the winery at Angaston Road. To reduce water usage, we dug up all the old irrigation pipes we’d inherited in the vineyard and installed a new system, complete with soil probes to measure temperature and moisture levels at three levels. Why? so we can only irrigate when we really need it! Sustainability in our winery is at the core of everything we do and create.

We all know that wine is made from grapes but what happens between the time they are crushed and before they splash into your glass?
Well this year (2020), all wines produced at RedHeads Village are vegan-friendly. We keep the milk and egg products out by fining our wines with a protein found in potatoes! Or not at all... Fining simply softens the wine and our wines are pretty balanced thanks to our hands-on winemaking approach.

As growers their philosophy is pretty simple: PAST, meet PROGRESS. Thanks to all of their hard work, and that of the previous (and future) generations, the Poole family – with Matt and Deb at the helm – are proud owners and operators of a vineyard based in the famous Barossa Valley wine region. The land and vineyard has been passed on through generations of Deb’s family and their four children are sixth generation descendants. The first of their Old Vine Shiraz was planted in 1954 and the vineyard has seen many different red and white varieties come and go over the years. They currently specialise in Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. One could say great grape growing is a genetic gift in the Poole family🍷 A gift that we're very thankful for!
