A deliciously moreish and silky blend of Shiraz and Cabernet from some of the best vineyards of South Australia – bright red berry fruit with cedary oak and satisfying length.
THE STORY
The 1966 Ford Falcon Sedan (on the label) is a bit of a head-turner … useful in the courting days of the original RedHeads winemaker for one thing, and also when he visited his grower mates. A bit clapped out, this classic auto always seemed to solicit sympathy (well, it’s not the ubiquitous heavy-duty Ute that winemakers now favour) amongst them, and so he always managed to squeeze a few more top-class grapes from them.
Today, the RedHeads winemakers have given in to the lure of the Ute, but this wine keeps the memory of the old classic car alive … driving it across South Australia, on the road that links the McLaren Vale to the Barossa, looking for the best parcels of grapes.
